The cons of being a care giver

Obviously, there are many pros to being a caregiver, including the rewarding aspect of the job. The first disadvantage is working alone. This can be difficult at times as there is no team for support or a supervisor to help make decisions so it can be challenging to manage the responsibility alone. There is not always the support of the organization’s availability immediately either. Another disadvantage is constantly being away from loved ones and families as the caregiver role means constantly be in somebody else’s home.

A caregiver role is also less flexible than other care jobs. The client is dependent on the caregiver to provide consistent care. Caregivers can also work long hours, which can put them at risk of burnout as it is hard to find time for a break. It is very important to have consistent breaks throughout the week, as well as during the working day.
